Four Abducted Youths Found Amid Ongoing Disappearances

Four young Kenyans abducted last month have been found, sparking relief for their families but leaving questions unanswered.

Billy Mwangi, who vanished 15 days ago, returned home to Embu after being abandoned in Nyeri, 60 kilometers away. His family suspects the abduction was linked to his outspoken criticism of the government. Emotional images showed Mwangi reuniting with relatives at their Majengo home.

Peter Muteti was freed in Nairobi and made his way home after being abducted near an apartment on December 21. Like Mwangi, Muteti had posted critical comments online about the government.

Meanwhile, the fate of three others, including cartoonist Kibet Bull, remains uncertain. Human rights activists are planning protests, condemning the rising wave of abductions and enforced disappearances.

Since June 2024, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights has recorded at least 82 cases, with seven occurring in December alone.

Authorities, under pressure, have until January 1, 2025, to report on investigations into these alarming incidents. Families continue to demand answers and justice.
