President Ruto Announces New Cabinet

President William Ruto has announced the list of Cabinet nominees. This comes just a week after he dismissed the entire Cabinet, save for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. Among the new appointees are six previously fired Cabinet Secretaries, who are making a return in different ministries. Notably, Prof. Kithure Kindiki retains his former position in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

The full list of the 11 new Cabinet Secretaries and their designations is as follows:

  1. Ministry of Interior and National Administration – Prof. Kithure Kindiki
  2. Ministry of Health – Dr. Debra Mulonga Barasa
  3. Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development – Alice Wahome
  4. Ministry of Education – Julius Migosi Ogamba
  5. Ministry of Defence – Aden Barre Duale
  6. Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development – Dr. Andrew Mwihia Karanja
  7. Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry – Roselinda Soipan Tuiya
  8. Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation – Eric Muriithi Muuga
  9. Ministry of Roads and Transport – Davis Chirchir
  10. Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy – Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u
  11. Attorney-General – Rebecca Miano

President Ruto emphasized that this reshuffle is part of ongoing consultations across the political divide to achieve a balanced and effective Cabinet. “I am continuing to undertake consultations across the political divide on the balance of Cabinet that I will appoint shortly. The consultations are at an advanced stage and internal processes in various sectors are underway to facilitate my appointment of the balance of this Cabinet,” said the President.
