President William Ruto has announced a significant reshuffling of his Cabinet, appointing Soipan Tuya as the new Defence Minister while transferring Aden Duale to the Ministry of Environment.
This decision was conveyed to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, through an official communication. The announcement coincided with Wetang’ula’s presentation of 11 new Cabinet Secretary nominees proposed by President Ruto for his restructured Cabinet.
The proposed candidates have been sent to the Committee on Appointments for vetting. The committee has a 28-day period to review and report on the nominees.
President Ruto introduced these 11 nominees last Friday. Following the reshuffle, Duale expressed his gratitude to the President for the new assignment and shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming responsibilities.
“I look forward to serving in my new portfolio,” Duale remarked.
Tuya wrote in her social media account:
“Eternally grateful to God for His favor! I thank HE President @WilliamsRuto for nominating me to serve as Cabinet Secretary Defence. Upon confirmation, I will give it my all, in service to the people of Kenya.”
The next step involves the National Assembly vetting the nominees, after which the full house will either approve or reject the appointments.
