Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was on Tuesday spotted in Hong Kong with his nominated counterpart Isaac Mwaura.

Mwaura posted photos of him and Wetangula on his Facebook page at the University of Hong Kong.

“With Sen Moses Wetangula representing the Senate ahead of the International Anti corruption conference in Hong Kong China. We paid a courtesy call at the Faculty of Law of University of Hong Kong where Prof Yash Pal Ghai taught for 10 years,” Senator Mwaura posted on his social media pages alongside the photo of the two of them.

According to the post the Senators were representing the Senate ahead of the International Anti-Corruption Conference in China.

“He is out of the country on Senate business in Hong Kong,” Kenneth Lusaka , the Senate speaker disclosed on Sunday.

The photos have elicited reactions on social media with majority saying it is ironical the senator is attending anti-corruption conference while he has been named as a person of interest on probe of fake gold saga.

The senator has been adversely mentioned in a gold saga where the United Arab Emirates royal family lost millions.

The Director of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti has confirmed the senator’s involvement in the Dubai gold scam.

The investigations will establish whether the politician was a victim or an accomplice in the deal that has now gone sour.

Kinoti said DCI detectives will fly out to Dubai on Tuesday night to record a statement from the representative of the United Arab Emirates’ rulers Ali Zandi to shed more light on the saga.

Wetangula is yet to speak out over his alleged ties to the saga.
