The killer officer, Chief inspector Duncan Maina, is attached at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road murdered his fellow serviceman, Evanson Kipng’etich Busienei on Thursday.
Maina drew his gun and fired at his colleague who was at the time walking back into the police station where he is attached.
Fight over a Car
The two officers go into a fight after Busienei refused to surrender a vehicle he was driving.
Maina claimed that the vehicle, registration number KAU 429U, belonged to the DCI and ordered Busienei to disembark.
Maina further shot towards a short chase Land Rover reg KBY 037Z, where four other men were standing. They escaped. He reported the matter at Thindigua police post – OB 2/23/11/2018 at 12.32am.
The body was found with two exit wounds on the back and two gun wounds at the chin. The Land Rover was shot at once and the rear screen smashed as its driver drove off to report at Kiambu police station.
Busineni’s body was taken to Kenyatta University mortuary pending an autopsy. Four cartridges of 9mm were collected at the scene.
A police report on the incident indicates that Maina was immediately disarmed.
Speaking on the incident on Friday, however, CS Matiang’i ordered the immediate arrest of the DCI inspector.
“Something is not adding up,” he stated. Dr Matiang’i explained that he had discussed the matter with IG Joseph Boinnet but he was still disatisfied with the explanations offered.
