Plots to oust Mbadi as Minority leader

National Assembly Minority leader John Mbadi

A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmakers want the party leadership to remove John Mbadi as the National Assembly Leader of Minority.

Led by Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, the MPs have written to ODM party leader Raila Odinga seeking the removal of John Mbadi on grounds of incompetence.

Mr. Baya, who is the party’s deputy organising secretary said Mr. Mbadi has failed on his duties in uniting the opposition and described him as unconvincing and weak mobiliser.

Of concern is the Finance Bill 2018 and the presidential reservations memorandum in which more than 90 per cent of legislators voted against his preferred position because he failed to influence them with his leadership.

“He was unable to read the mood of the minority side, which he leads, and was unable to manage them. He completely failed to provide leadership in the House during the debate and party members openly overran his abilities,” Mr.Baya said.
