Man arrested for selling fake tenders, Nairobi

Police have arrested a man accused of pretending to be a Department of Defence colonel on Wednesday October 17.

Erick Otien 35 who is alleged to have been defrauding people while impersonating as a DoD will be arraigned in court on today.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, he is accused of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by selling them fake DoD tenders.

The suspect is also accused of obtaining money by false pretences.

The offence of impersonation carries a maximum sentence of three years.

 

Meanwhile, Police have recovered more than 200 laptops that are believed to have been stolen from a house in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

The 270 laptops were recovered from a house in Nyayo Embakasi by officers from Special Crimes Prevention Unit who were led by a suspect on Wednesday evening.

Two suspects were arrested. The gadgets had been fraudulently obtained and Sh88m defrauded.
