IEBC deny sacking CEO Ezra Chiloba

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has refuted claims of sacking the Commission CEO Ezra Chiloba from the employment.

Through its twitter post on Tuesday 24, the Commission denied dismissing Mr.Chiloba and said that the disciplinary process is on going.

“It is not true that CEO Ezra Chiloba, who is on suspension, has been dismissed from employment. What is true is that the disciplinary process is on-going and the Commission will make an objective decision on the matter,” read the post.

It was alleged that the decision was arrived at by the commission’s Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and two other commissioners.

Trouble has rocked the Commission in the recent past.

Chiloba had been suspended from office on April 9, 2018 following the agency’s internal audit report that flagged the flawed procurement of goods and services for the 2017 general election.

“The commission has resolved to suspend you with immediate effect pending an audit of all major procurements relating to the August 8 general elections,” said IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati on April 9.

On June 15, 2018, Chiloba was suspended for a second time but thereafter the Labour relations court allowed him to resume work saying the decision to send Mr Chiloba on forced leave did not have contractual obligation.
