Booker, a Democrat from New Jersey, remained on his feet for 25 hours, voicing his concerns over what he described as Trump’s unconstitutional overreach. His endurance surpassed the previous record of 24 hours and 18 minutes, set in 1957 by Strom Thurmond during his opposition to civil rights legislation.
With growing support from Democratic colleagues, Booker called his speech a “moral stand,” emphasizing the importance of protecting American democracy. He criticized Trump’s budget cuts and executive actions, particularly those led by his top advisor, billionaire Elon Musk.
