In a stunning political shake-up, Kenya’s President William Ruto has dismissed all his Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General. This bold move by the president comes in response to mounting pressure from a wave of Gen Z-led protests witnessed across the country demanding accountability of his administration.
Addressing the nation, President Ruto stated, “I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General of the Cabinet of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs. And of course, the office of the Deputy President is not affected in any way.”
The protests which have gained momentum over the past weeks, highlight the growing frustration with Ruto’s government, particularly among the younger generation. They are demanding his resignation.
